Solar Radio Project

Work in progress
Below is the circuit of the solar radio module built during the workshop we hosted in IED last February 2026.

Connected Thermometer

How can we monitor the temperature evolution of solar ovens?

We have connected thermometers to an ESP32. We are working on code to remotely monitor the temperature evolution inside our solar ovens.

The ultimate goal is to be able to follow the temperature on baking days here, on the Lab’s live page.

Gravity Energy Generator

Work in progress

What if we could really harness gravity to make electricity?

We set ourselves the challenge of turning gravity into a source of power — taking inspiration from projects like Gravity Light, but trying to push the idea further.

The process wasn’t straightforward. We experimented with weights, ropes, and axes, learning how different pulley and hoist configurations affected the system. A key difficulty was controlling the rotation: gravity pulls slowly and steadily, but a generator needs faster, more consistent movement. By decoupling the speed through mechanical adjustments, we began to see the first sparks of usable electricity.
